Now Fort has returned to Wyoming, to his mother’s ranch in hopes to start a new life. A former Military Police, he wants to run for Sheriff… but convincing the townsfolk Fort intends to put down roots in the small community is going to take more than words. He needs a bride.

Cori Walters realizes she will never become the photographer she dreams of being in the town where her father’s – former mayor turned cattle rustler – legacy taints everything she attempts to accomplish. When her friend offers her a temporary job posing as a fiancé, Cori decides going to Wyoming might be just the new start she needs. Until she realizes her pretend groom-to-be is someone she knows from high school… And hates her.

Book Review: Tracks of Her Tears by Melinda Leigh – A Kindle In Motion Romantic Suspense Novel

Book Review: Tracks of Her Tears by Melinda Leigh – A Kindle In Motion Romantic Suspense Novel

romantic suspense, books, book reviewBook Details:
Author: Melinda Leigh
Publisher:  Montlake Romance
Publication Date: November 10, 2015
Genre: Romantic Suspense
My Thoughts
While Tracks of Her Tears is a Kindle in Motion book that was done visually appealing, I found the imagery pretty distracting at times, especially when it displays moving background. Yes, it is possible to turn off the animation, but considering that this is the entire point of a Kindle in Motion book, I chose to leave it on. I can just imagine how someone with ADHD or any other type attention reducing disorder would have a difficult time with this book.
The plot and story line of Tracks of Her Tears were decent, nothing particularly special, and I found the dynamic between the two main characters (a husband and wife), quite forced. To be fair, the story does explain that they are just getting back together, but still, I could not see much of any true chemistry between them. This is not my first Melinda Leigh book, so I know that this Author can deliver a lot better stories than this.
Also, I found that the story line was a little too obvious from the beginning, and a little too convenient  All of the suspects and main characters felt too flat, and so did the some of the other side characters. The only two characters I really connected with was the matriarch of the household, who seemed spunky and strong, despite her recent loss, and Brianna, the young child of the two main characters.
Overall it was an okay story, that kept me entertained enough, but nothing I would say that sticks out of the large heap of much better novels in the romantic suspense category. I do however like Melinda Leigh’s other books, so if you are new to this Author, I would still recommend giving her other novels a try.
My rating:
3 out of 5 Stars
Book Summary:

In the first thrilling Rogue Winter Novella, sleepy little Solitude, Oregon, wakes up to another deadly threat.

County investigator Seth Harding intends to spend the holidays with his newly reconciled family, but a few days before Christmas, a homicide thwarts his plan. Seth arrives at the scene and makes a painful discovery: the victim is his brother-in-law’s girlfriend. Her apartment has been ransacked and her toddler left motherless. To make matters worse, Seth’s brother-in-law, Bruce, is missing. With Solitude locked in a rare, deadly deep freeze and the temperature plummeting, the residents launch a desperate search.

Seth calls his wife, social worker Carly Taylor, to take the case so the little girl doesn’t get lost in the foster care system. With the holidays near, Carly brings the child home with them to celebrate Christmas. But when the Taylor farm is also trashed, Seth and Carly must race against time—and against a paralyzing winter storm—to find Bruce and catch a killer in the first pulse-pounding sequel to the Rogue River Novellas.
