Have you ever read a book where you want to shake the main character, because they frustrate you that much?
you know, one of those novels where you’d get mad at the stupidity of whatever is going on and every action is pretty much unbelievable? Well, thankfully this book was not one of those books
Almost a Bride is filled with more believable plot points and characters that actually have some rational thoughts and reaction, which makes it easy to connect and understand the motives of the characters, unlike throughout many contemporary romance novels that are published today.
Yes, this book is in the middle of a series but works well as a stand-alone novel, therefore you don’t have to worry about having to have read the first installation of the series. I haven’t and I had no problem connecting with the characters despite that. Some series are impossible to read in random order and these are the series that annoy me the most.
Yes, series of fun but I’ll do not want to be forced to find the first book of a series if the plot of the second book sounds more interesting to me.Book Review Almost a Bride - A Well-Constructed Relatable Contemporary Romance Click To Tweet
But, back to Almost A Bride
The main characters in almost a bride had as I mentioned believable motifs especially Maddie who did everything in order to save her family’s Ranch. Her desperation was relatable and understandable, and with all of her flaws (which made her even more 3 dimensional), her sincerity was obvious.
While both characters had their faults neither of them had too much trouble overcoming any obstacle that was placed in their way and the love and chemistry between both of them allow them to form a true partnership.
I truly enjoy this beautifully written well-thought-out and perfectly paced stand-alone novel.
4.5 out of 5 Stars
Dave Currick was everything Matty Brennan wanted for as long as she could remember. Right up until he broke her heart six years ago. Now that she’s returned to Wyoming for good, what she wants more than anything is to save her family’s ranch. Even if that means swallowing her pride and asking Dave to marry her.
Matty’s up to something – Dave knows that much. Just as he knows that Matty needs help, so of course he’ll provide it, just as he has all her life. Doing what’s best for Matty is second nature and part of the cowboy code. Even when it comes to marrying her in name only. Although he can’t resist one hot-blooded kiss after the I-dos of their marriage of convenience wedding.
Maybe – just maybe – his Matty will become more to him than Almost a Bride.
