Never Binge Again by Glenn Livingston – A Book Review

Never Binge Again by Glenn Livingston – A Book Review

The first thing that turned me off about Never Binge Again was the unkind language it used. I am not a fan of using the term “Pig” when it comes to eating behaviors, it has a way too loaded connection for many people who are overweight – such as having been called a pig.

Secondly, there are so many links to the Author’s site, that makes me wonder if he only wrote this book to build his subscriber list. I get adding some links back, but a lot of the content linked, could have been added to the book.

I am not a person who overeats, so it is hard for me to tell if this book would be very effective in its approach. But I do know what it means to be bullied into trying to implement a change, and that book reminds me a little of the same language that was used then.

Therefore I can fairly say, that I think that this book – like so many diet books – will show initial results for the reader, but because there was no dealing with the underlying issue that caused the binge eating – and he even discourages the reader to dig deeper into the why, and instead just do what needs to be done to change the habit – it will be only a temporary fix for most of them.

Addressing addictions and behavior problems of any kind needs to go deeper in its approach than simple action steps, unflattering language, and links to more web content. I find this Author very irresponsible with the subject, considering that binge eating can be extremely dangerous to some of those who suffer from eating disorders.

Title: Never Binge Again

Author: Glenn Livingston

Publisher: Psy Tech Inc.

Genre: Self-Help, Dieting,

Book Summary:

If you struggle with binge eating, emotional eating, stress
eating, or if you repeatedly manage to lose weight only to gain it all back, you
may be approaching things with the wrong mindset.

Most contemporary thought on overeating and bingeing focuses on healing and
self-love. But people who’ve overcome food addiction and weight
issues often report it was more like capturing and caging a rabid dog than
learning to love their inner child…

Open the cage even an inch—or show that dog an ounce of fear—and it’ll quickly
burst out to shred your healthy eating plans, undoing all your progress in a
heartbeat.

From his perspective as a formerly food-obsessed psychologist—and previous
consultant to major food manufacturers—Dr. Livingston shares specific techniques
for isolating and permanently dis-empowering your “fat thinking self.”  He
reveals much of his own personal journey in the process.

If despite your best intentions you find yourself in one or more of the
following situations then this book is for you…

    • You’ve tried diet after diet with no permanent success…

    • You constantly think about food and/or your weight…

    • You feel driven to eat when you’re not hungry (emotional overeating)…

    • You sometimes feel you can’t stop eating even though you’re full…

    • You sometimes feel guilty or ashamed of what you’ve eaten…

    • You behave differently with food in private than you do when you’re with other
      people…

    • You feel the need to fast and/or severely restrict your food to “make up” for
      serious bouts of overeating…

Never Binge Again can help you:

    • Dramatically improve your ability to stick to ANY healthy food plan so you can
achieve your weight loss and/or fitness goals…

    • Quickly recover from mistakes without self judgment or unnecessary guilt…

  • Free yourself from the prison of food obsession so you can enjoy a satisfying,
delicious, and healthy diet for the rest of your life!

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season, and transition into 2017. I am looking forward to exploring all of the wonderful books that are coming our way, many of which I am looking forward to, due to their promising premises. I can hardly wait to share them with you.

book review, Turbulent Desires, Melody Anne, new releaseLet’s start this year by talking about Turbulent Desires by Melody Anne, a romance novel that centers around the world of Aviators. Now there is a subject I have no idea about, so I was very curious to see if I would find it as interesting as some of the other Montlake romances that had been released recently.

Well, I did. Melody Anne took her time to develop a lovely cast of three-dimensional characters, who were easy to connect with. Maverick (okay the name is a little cheesy, I must admit – Top Gun anyone?) is a caring alpha male, who knows what he needs to do to get his job done.  But one thing he did not count on that is falling for a woman who can not stand to be touched be anyone, after going through hell and back. That is exactly were the beginning of the book takes you – in the middle of a late-night attack that almost kills here, but leaves two colleges who were more than just colleges to her, dead. Her struggles to overcome her experiences, and his struggles to not fall in love with this brave woman is what drives this story.

While Turbulent Desires is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone book. I have not read the first part of the series but will remedy that shortly, because I fell in love with all of the characters, and family members, and want to know more about them.

I have become a fan of Melody Anne, and am looking forward to exploring all of the other books she has written. So you can be assured that you will find her name appearing on my blog more often from now on.

But falling for F-18 pilot Maverick Armstrong is a risk she can’t afford…

Maverick knows that fear can eat away at the soul, and he won’t leave Lindsey to that fate.
