My 5 Favorite Thanksgiving Cookbooks For This Upcoming Holiday Season
Thanksgiving might still be a couple of months away, but planning one of the biggest family gatherings of the year, takes time and preparation – and in some cases practice. Who would want to try a new recipe out on some of the more pickier family members, and face a potential holiday meltdown? I don’t know about you, but I usually try out new culinary delights way ahead of time, in order to be able to make adjustments, because nothing speaks more of stress than not being prepared for the inevitable.

 

Here are my 5 favorite Thanksgiving cookbooks for the upcoming holiday season:

 

    1. Fine Cooking Thanksgiving Cookbook: Recipes for Turkey and All the Trimmings. You can basically not go wrong with any cookbook that the Editors of Fine Cooking pub together, so it is no surprise that their Thanksgiving cookbook made it on my favorite list. Whether you are an experienced cook or are just starting out, you are covered here. And, it is visually appealing, which makes me want to grab it over and over again.
    2. Thanksgiving: How to Cook It Well: How to Cook It Well. This award-winning book is amazing! While it may not be as visually appealing as the Fine Cooking cookbook above, it is non-less is incredibly useful as it dissects each step with a precision, that makes it easy to follow along, even for a novice cook. Sam covers all of the basics, and adds his own twist to the recipes, which delighted me even more – who says, Thanksgiving stables have to boring?
    3. Williams-Sonoma The Best of Thanksgiving – for those with more experience in the kitchen, this cookbook is a must. Beautifully images combined with masterfully creative recipes, turn your average Thanksgiving gathering to an experience your family and friends will talk about for years to come. Allow yourself to be inspired.


  1. Jill’s Plant-Based Thanksgiving Recipes – For the vegan chef among you, this is by far the best collection of Thanksgiving recipes I have found. Not too complicated, while staying true to its cruelty-free approach, the recipes in this book can become the new classics, whether your entire Thanksgiving meal will be plant-based, or you simply want to add a healthier option to the family gathering.
  2. A Gluten Free Thanksgiving: How To Make a Delicious Gluten Free Turkey Dinner That Everyone Will Love – because health problems, such as gluten-intolerance, does not stop for the holidays, I wanted to include a book that has helped me cook for those in my family with special dietary needs. Don’t be fooled into thinking that gluten-free means tasteless and uncreative, no – this cookbook will prove that staying healthy can not only be doable but very tasty indeed. I bet you could sneak some of these recipes into your standard Thanksgiving repertoire, and no one would ever guess that they are “special diet” recipes!

  1. I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving/the Christmas season again! Where has this year gone?! Loving all of these cookbooks though, November to December is my favourite time of year and I love nothing more than looking through cookbooks and finding new things to make!
