My Thoughts On The Book
With these two Authors, Stephanie Tornatore and Adam Bannon, I had high expectations, probably higher than I would have, if I would not have known about them, however, due to the hype that always comes with a new book from anyone who is considered an expert of a field, I tend to be a little more critical. After all, anyone can publish a cookbook, but not everyone can write, create and publish a good cookbook.
What I found was a good cookbook that did not rock my world, or made me want to start cooking right away, but left me still satisfied enough.
I did really enjoy the no-cook lentils and black bean nachos a lot, not only because it did not take any time to make – but because it is versatile. For example, I had it one night as nachos, and another I had a side dish of brown rice, instead of the corn chips, and a little bit of homemade salsa – very nice both ways!
The intro part of the book was colorful and useful if you are new to meal prep and vegan foods, but would not offer anything new to someone who has experience with both.
There are a lot of images within Plant-Based Meal Prep, which is what I am looking for when I purchase my own cookbooks – I want the authors to make me hungry and crave for the recipes presented. And they did a really good job with that. But I must say, that considering that the Authors are Youtubers, I did expect the images to be superb, and thankfully I was not disappointed.
None of the recipes are overly complicated, which is essential in my opinion when it comes to meal prepping – after all, I want to save time (and maybe even money), if I decide to prep, so anything too out of the ordinary would not fit into a meal prep plan in my opinion. Again, this book delivered on those promises, which I was happy to see.
I really liked the convenience of the shopping list and action plans for meal prepping sessions that were presented. How cool is that! The authors made it so easy, that on one of those weeks when you really can not come up with anything, you would still have a solid plan – simply because they provided it for you. Works for me.
My second favorite recipe is the White Bean Burger, which is absolutely delicious, and again very easy to make, and very easy to store.
Plant-Based Meal Prep is easy to use, easy to follow along, and no-nonsense cookbook that delivers everything it promises – nothing more and nothing less.
