Book Review: Moonlight (Moon Series Book One) by Lisa Kessler
Author: Lisa Kessler
Publication Date: July 15, 2013
Genre: Paranormal Romance
This is another book that makes me throw away some of the preconceived notions I have about what I like in books, and what I don’t like in books. First of all, I am always very careful about shifter stories, as they are many times not very well developed. Moonlight is the opposite. I loved every minute of it, and none of the fantasy lines of the novel seemed forced, or took me to a place, where I was asked to make too much of a leap of faith. Everything flowed, even the details of each shift as if it was a natural occurrence.
The second thing, I really don’t like about books is a first person narrative, as it tends to take me out of the story. Not so with this novel. Lisa Kessler carefully crafted each moment we spent with the two main characters and their perspective. I instantly liked them both, which is even more important in this choice of storytelling, which pleasantly surprised me.
The plot itself was great, not rushed, and thankfully it was a stand-alone novel, even though it is the introduction to the Moon Series. I don’t feel like I have to read another part in order to find myself completely satisfied with every part of the story line, yet now I want to know more, as there are so many more members of the pack that need to have their chance to tell their story.
I truly enjoyed reading this book, it ended up being one of my favorite books in the genre.

Rancher Adam Sloan is more than meets the eye. As the heir to his Pack, the sexy werewolf’s biggest challenge is keeping his kin’s true nature under wraps. But a group of jaguar shifters threatens to reveal the pack, blasting into town killing humans in plain sight. And when he smells one at the local diner, his standing orders are to take her out.
Lana Turpin doesn’t realize she’s a moving target. Raised in the foster system, she only knows that she blacks out during the new moon and wakes up without remembering a thing. But now she’s being tracked by some strange organization that wants her back–even though she’s never stepped foot inside their compound. And the stranger across the diner is watching her like an enemy.
It should be a simple mission for Adam, but when he touches the frustratingly beautiful Lana, his inner wolf howls…mate. Now, the two must find and stop the people who hunt her…and Adam must keep his own family from killing the only woman he will ever love.
